Abstract
This proposal outlines a strategic initiative for MoonDAO to establish a temporary physical presence in Florianópolis, Brazil, during April 2026, leveraging two major ecosystem events: Discover Floripa and Ipê Village. The goals are to strengthen MoonDAO’s visibility, partnerships, and community growth in Latin America through Florianópolis as a leading regional hub for startups, digital nomads, and crypto innovation, making it an ideal entry point for MoonDAO’s long-term expansion in the region and ecosystem.
The initiative includes renting an apartment for one month to function as a MoonDAO base, hosting community events and workshops, and organizing a focused hackathon. The hackathon will explore a novel crypto-native model that combines elements of stock markets and startup incubators to connect investors with space-focused startups developing solutions for Earth-based challenges. The project aims to generate tangible prototypes, onboard new contributors, and position MoonDAO as a key actor at the intersection of space, crypto, and real-world impact.
Problem
MoonDAO already had its first major point of contact in LatAm during September 2025 with the Unity-MoonDAO Art Rocket Project in Brazil. This initial contact with the Brazilian Space sector and community yielded new citizens and increased our network in the leading country of the region. Now we have the possibility to establish a deeper connection with the new booming community related to blockchain, crypto, decentralization, web3 and privacy, which is growing fast in Florianópolis.
Florianópolis positioned itself as a key city for national and international startup teams. Now it's considered one of the leading places in LatAm for digital nomads. MoonDAO must be known within such ecosystem and reinforce its presence in the region that started in September 2025 with strategic participation in local flagship events and physical outreach.
MoonDAO must be constantly seen or risks remaining confined to the virtual sphere, missing opportunities to forge partnerships, attract contributors, and co-create with the broader innovation community.
Solution
Make MoonDAO be present and visible in two key events in the city during April 2026:
- Ipê Village (From 06/April to 01/May):
- A month-long co-living, co-working experiment focused on governance innovation, decentralized tech, and prototyping future cities, hosted at Founder Haus in Jurerê Internacional.
- Includes a conference with panels on AI, blockchain, and governance — ideal to pitch MoonDAO’s mission and network with builders.
- Discover Floripa (From 01/April to 30/April):
- A month-long festival for nomads, bitcoiners, creators, and founders, with weekly flagship events, talks, workshops, and community gatherings.
- Highly flexible. MoonDAO can officially host talks/workshops throughout the month in the event calendar.
Renting a month-long house for April, where we can host small events for the attendees of Ipê Village/Discover Floripa and MoonDAO citizens who want to stay in our headquarters during April.
The list of possible events is:
- Host a talk with the theme “Decentralized Access to Space”, where we can show Dr. Eiman’s documentary and explain the structure and dynamics of MoonDAO. Here we can distribute stickers, sell t-shirts, patches and even onboard new citizens.
- Hackathon with the theme “WEB3 StockMarket and Incubator for the Decentralized Space Sector”. The idea is to attract builders to ideate and develop a system of funding where MoonDAO is the mediator between investors and startups, a system that can facilitate the development of products and services, but also bootstrap MoonDAO’s treasury.
Another important activity is the possibility to conduct interviews at the Hacker Houses and Panels during the two events with the founders, builders and broad community. The idea is to generate a report about the interest of the web3 community on decentralized space and find possible niches where we can grow MoonDAO reach and impact.
On the official calendar of Discover Floripa, we can make a workshop on how to become a citizen, the voting process, and how to apply a proposal.
Benefits
1. Strategic Ecosystem Integration
- Establish MoonDAO in one of Latin America’s most dynamic innovation hubs. Connecting with founders, investors, builders, and digital nomads.
- Leverage on Discover Floripa’s open event calendar to host MoonDAO sessions, workshops, or casual meetups that attract diverse participants.
2. Brand Awareness & Credibility
- Present at Ipê City Village and Discober Floripa. Positioning MoonDAO among global decentralized communities.
- Become a known name in Latin America’s blockchain & startup ecosystem.
3. Community Growth & Collaboration
- Hackathon can catalyze new contributors, prototypes, and partnerships. Especially around crypto + space startup infrastructure.
- A physical base fosters local citizen community with working sessions, and real-world networking beyond the events.
4. Extended Engagement Window
- A month-long presence and not just a one event day. This maximizes touchpoints with participants, speakers, and traveling nomads.
Risks
1. Budget & Logistics
- Renting an apartment for a month, travel, hackathon expenses, and associated costs (catering, prizes, equipment) require significant funding.
2. Event Overlap & Clutter
- Ipê Village and Discover Floripa is broad and decentralized, so without a clear plan, MoonDAO’s events may be overshadowed among many.
3. Hackathon Engagement
- Without strong local marketing and partnerships, attracting relevant participants (space tech + crypto) could be slow.
Objectives
Short-Term (During April 2026)
- Attend Ipê Village and Discover Floripa to profile MoonDAO as an active organization in the ecosystem.
- Host MoonDAO Talks/Sessions integrated into Discover Floripa’s event calendar, focusing on DAO governance, space-tech innovation, and decentralized investment models.
- Run a high-impact hackathon tied to the DAO’s long-term vision (crypto and startup ecosystem for space tech solutions).
Medium-Term (Post-Event)
- Convert network into collaboration, new citizens, and contributors to MoonDAO.
- Elaborate a report about the perception of the ecosystem towards decentralized access to space, which can help future proposals to be more assertive in their targeting and expected outcomes.
Long-Term
- Establish a stronger MoonDAO presence in Latin America web3 ecosystem based on contacts and momentum built during these two key events.
Team (Table A)
Project Lead: @schineiderrabelo. The Project Lead is responsible for:
- Attending weekly town hall meetings, reviewing incoming proposals and voting on them within the Senate. Missed attendance will result in a 5% penalty to the rocketeer’s retroactive rewards.
- Creating weekly updates to the community on the progress of the project in the “progress” channel on DIscord.
- Adding team members, removing team members, and making decisions about the use of the budget throughout the lifetime of the project.
- Managing the multi-sig Treasury for the project as well as the payments for each of the members.
- Creating the Final Report and returning unused funds to the MoonDAO Treasury.
Initial Team: @schineiderrabelo and a Brazilian MoonDAO Citizen or Core Team Member to be decided later. Team members are responsible for:
- Create social media content during the whole month, weekly update about the interviews being conducted with the community about decentralized access to space and presentation of its partial statistical data.
- Minimum 1 reels per week showcasing the presence of MoonDAO in events. Coverage of our hackathon and talk session.
